Post subject:  Help with specific dead link.

Hello,

I can't manage TM to report a specific link as dead:

<link deleted>

I have configured the following two dead keyphrases:

Code:
Download impossible
This server is currently under maintenance

First does work fine for links actually deleted and should also work for the example link (which is not deleted, but the server's under eternal maintenance) but it doesn't. So I added the second phrase and tested - unsuccessfully :-(

Any ideas?

Hi,

the link works fine and I can't see at the moment "This server is currently under maintenance" so it's not possible to test it in any way.

When it actually is "under maintenance" you can try to test in "HOSTS" tab at the top just by entering that URL and press "Check link" if it will be "successful" the program will create a response file in "files/success" folder. Take a look at HTML source of that file and you should see why "This server is currently under maintenance" phrase didn't work. They might had some HTML tags around some words like "This server is currently <b>under maintenance</b>" or something like that.

Also if the server is just under maintenance then the link is not really dead. All links will be reported as dead then, but it's usually just temporary maintenance so there is no need to replace them. Not sure if you really need to see those links reported.

I see what the problem is. The error only shows when you click on one of the download buttons, before you do it, it looks like the file is online.

This is not a temporary failure, it's some DB failure the host seems unable to fix - for several weeks now. Only solution is to locate the files and reupload them. But with the host's API reporting those files as online it seems we have to go the hard way and scrape all file links and see if they are in the black hole ... damn.

Well, thanks anyway :-)
